Is it really July? Where did June go? Holy cow.

Target has school supplies out and ready. Wow. Hobby Lobby has Christmas items on display.

May you enjoy a nice, slow summer! Your junior high adventure will start soon enough.

Ah, summer. Don't you just love it? At BJHS, we are out on summer "break." Little do most people know that very few teachers are able to have summers "off."

During Mrs. Plato's first week "off" she attended two days of training with the Standards Aligned Curriculum intiative, attended one day of math curriculum planning with other sixth grade teachers, and taught two days worth of SMART Board training to teachers who were new to the technology from all over McLean, Livingston, and DeWitt counties. This week, both Mrs. Plato and Mrs. Cook are attending Moveable Feast, a technology professional development opportunity. We get to meet many teachers from the area and learn some great technology to integrate into our classrooms.

Throughout the summer, this blog will be updated, so stay tuned. If you found out you will be a member of 6J1 next year, welcome and we cannot wait to meet you! Feel free to click around on the links to your left, but know that they are being edited as we speak.

Can it be true? Is it really May 23rd? What a great year! We have ended on a terrific foot. The students kicked in really well toward the end of the year, and their grades certainly show it. Most worked hard to keep their grades up this quarter, and their hard work paid off.

Today, students were given a summer math booklet called "Strengthen Your Armor." This booklet, made by BJHS teachers and provided free of charge by District 87, is intended to keep math skills sharp over the summer. The PTO very generously provides incentives in the fall for students who complete all or even a portion of the booklet and return it to their math teachers next fall.

Response of students? "Do we have to do this?" "I'm not letting my mom see this."

My response: An evil smirk. "You must know I am e-mailing your parents so they expect this to come home."

Such fun!! :)

Look at this blog over the weekend for an explanation of math placements for seventh grade.

Tuesday: PRT for select students from 11:45 - 2:15; Pheasant Lanes for bowling and mini-golf. Students can bring money for snacks if they wish.

Have a wonderful, long weekend! Happy Memorial Day!
